T. L. Lange studied fine art at Winthrop College in South Carolina, before moving to Atlanta to be surrounded by full-time artists. He believed that the only way to gain a true education in art was to be immersed in an artistic setting outside of the constraints of academia.
Lange worked quickly in a wide array of media. He incorporated oils, collage, and encaustic, among other materials. Of his work Lange says, “I derive the compositions from the beauty of chaos in decay, the colors of rusty pipes, and layers of billboard advertisements. Paintings are everywhere. I keep the studio floor littered with photographs, torn paper, flecks of paint, and objects to trip over while looking for something else.”
Foster/White began exhibiting T. L. Lange’s work in 2000, two years before his death at age 36. His work is in private and public collections throughout the United States, including Boeing Corporate Headquarters, Microsoft Corporation, and Saks Fifth Avenue Corporation.
