He pursued his artistic endeavors studying sculpture at St. Martin’s College of Art in London, England. Burrows' most prominent medium is cast pigmented polymer resin with which he creates luminescence through suspended hues and textures. His subtle abstract colorfield paintings speak more softly on the subjects of shelter, commodity, the body, history, and politics than his earlier work (his work from the 1970s and ‘80s took an aggressive political focus). In the ‘90s, he chose to revert to sculptural paintings of cast polymer resins. Burrows has had solo exhibitions in London, Rome, Tokyo, Berlin, New York, Edinburgh, and across Canada. He has been an active grant recipient and has work in private, corporate, and public collections in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
